My transition to tech

I've been working in the education sector with children and young adults for many years and have a BA (Hons) in Child Development. I have now taken the plunge and transitioned to the Tech Industry and a brand-new career and life challenge!

In January last year, I was fortunate to access the Scottish Government funded, 'Intro to Tech' Course with CodeClan. This was a week-long interactive workshop introducing Full Stack Development. I was instantly and completely hooked!!

I have self-funded my learning through SheCodes. Their workshops have introduced me to Html5, CSS3 and JavaScript ES6. SheCodes has also given me the opportunity to meet some amazing and inspirational global developers through their Slack channel.

I am also building relationships with beginner and senior developers alike through social media. They give me valuable advice and the determination to succeed in the Tech Industry.

At the beginning of October last year, I started a 12-week Web Development boot-camp with Bath Spa University in partnership with the Institute of Coding. This was a live, online boot-camp where I gained valuable knowledge from experienced developers both internally and from the tech industry. The boot-camp covered all aspects of Front-End Development.

The boot-camp was an amazing experience, not only did I build my knowledge of coding languages including JavaScript and React, I also collaborated regularly and strategically on projects with fellow coders.
